E26, 10 watt LED light bulbs from ht-lights at a discount in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
Takes some time getting use to, but much brighter, less energy used than other types of bulbs.
These are the first LED lights that we have tried out thus far, and after using them in our living room for a few days now, we plan to eventually switch all of our bulbs out with them. Currently, we have these two bulbs in a ceiling fan light fixture along with a 14 watt CFL bulb. I can say they put off a much clearer, whiter light than the CFL and they are also a little brighter. It has taken us a little to get use to the light it produces, which has a color temperature of 4000 Kelvin, so it is much different than your average bulb, whether CFL or incandescent. However, they are growing on us each and every day. They are a 10 watt LED bulb, which is equivalent to 60 watts. We did try one of the bulbs out in our bathroom, which is a single bulb light fixture, and felt the light just wasn't bright enough for that room. So for the fixtures in our home that only require one bulb, we plan to get some that are double the wattage.
Aside from the energy savings you get from using these, and other LED bulbs, we really like that they are free of mercury, which apparently CFL bulbs contain. While switching over to LED is going to be a little bit of a pricey purchase, you are much safer going this route just based on the mercury thing alone. The bulbs are a little smaller than the average bulb, and appear to be well made. they feature a gold color aluminum radiator, which I suspect is to keep it cool during use. They are rated as a 35,000 hour bulb, and are backed by a 2 year warranty.
