These 40 watt bulbs compared to 60 watt bulbs

These 40 watt bulbs compared to 60 watt bulbs.

Comparing the 40 watt LED Classic Style Bulb to the 60 watt I have to say that since they are dimmable, and if you are predisposed to having a dimmer, or have it hooked up to Alexa with a wide range of dimmable options the 60 watts goes everywhere. As a standalone bulb on a night stand in a bedroom the 40 watt provides that hypnotic allure; something I am fond of in a lighting scene. On the other hand the 60 watt replacement will not only provide that level of light, dimmed it will cover the 40 watt level as well. (The 60 watt and 40 watt expressions are actually the replacement bulb level, not the actual wattage)

That is where it gets interesting as well. The 40 watt equivalent bulb actually uses 6 watts, and the 60 watt equivalent actually uses 9.5 watts but get a load of this. The light output on the 40 watt is only 450 lumens, whereas the light output on the 60 is 800 lumens. You have nearly twice the amount of light for only 3.5 more watts of actual electricity. I'd like to say when you dim the 60 watt you can save that amount but in actuality dimmed lights set at 50% draw more than 50% of their actual wattage, but its close. We are talking 4 watts here difference with almost twice the brilliance.
Since the dim ability of the 60 is available, and the way extra brightness, I favor the 60. However if you are going without a dimmer, and want that extra soft bedroom light feeling go with the 40.

By the way the 60 for some reason is way heavier than the 40. It's all in the base. Not that you are carrying these bulbs around all day to make a difference, your lamp is doing all of the holding, but it was impressive nonetheless.

Of course the biggest factor is in how much electricity these new LED bulbs use. Over time the cost savings can add up. If you have a favorite night light that you always use it makes these a smart investment. They screw into a standard lamp socket of traditional bulbs we have always had. The big thing that I love is that these are warm white at 3000k. No stark washed out look from these. I had one of those in my bedroom before and almost immediately removed it. Love warm light. They work great. Highly recommended.

LED Light Glare occurs in the following three forms

Glare is a two-fold problem in which lights are reflected off surrounding surfaces so that the light scatters and causes vision problems. It doesn’t interfere with night vision, but makes it difficult to identify and place objects. For the problems of LED glare, all the manufacturers have adopted a variety of methods, some use the brushed PC mask ,others adopt the frosted mask or use the special phosphor materials, etc. , but these methods are not ideal, the drawing masks can eliminate glare, but the flare phenomenon is more serious , our eye tend to be fatigue under this lamp, if we are exposed to it over a prolonged period of time , but also cause eye astigmatism ; while the light loss of those using the mask and cream frosted is too large , the effect is bad.
